Since 1971, all WSOP events have been tournaments with money awards. In 1973 a five-card stud event was included. Since then, novel events have been included and detached. In 2006 there were 45 events at the World Series of Poker, covering the majority of poker variants. Presently, Texas holdem, Omaha holdem and Seven-card stud and it?s lowball variants (if any) are played. H.O.R.S.E. has been played in the earlier period and came back in 2006. As well, S.H.O.E. has been played in the earlier period, and reentered in 2007. Other events played in the earlier period include Chinese poker, five card stud, and many others. Similar to most tournaments, the sponsoring casino receives an admission fee (a proportion among 6% and 10%, according to the buy-in) and allots the rest; thus the award cash boosts with more players. In the 2005 chief event US$52,818,610 in award cash was distributed between 560 players, with US$7.5 million to first prize. The number of partakers in the WSOP has grown-up nearly every year, and in recent years the development has blown up. In 2000 there were 4,780 participants in the different events, but in 2005, the number went up to over 23,000 players. In the main event alone, the number of contestants raised from 839 in 2003 to 8,773 in 2006.
